Thermoelectric Peltier effect and Phase Change Materials

Posted this blog on www.refrigeration-engineer.com forum and received a suggestion to consider the use of the thermoelectric Peltier effect and/or phase change materials.

These are interesting ideas which I have not considered before so will look into further (just came across this).

Initially I am sceptical of the use of thermoelectric system as this will require a dc source (i.e pv pannels) which tend to be very expensive but can not rule it out at this stage as have not done cost comparison to alternate methods.

Using a phase change material as an intermediate thermal store is a sensible idea and something that was already under consideration but it the poster suggests that it could also be used for direct cooling.

Aside from this concerns regarding, the practical maintenance of the proposed system in view of its intended application in developing countries have also been raised which also needs to be borne in mind as we progress these concepts.
